What a wonderful collection of recipes to start the year! I don’t know which one I would want to make first. I must tell you how I spent the first day of the new year. Hubby and I went to the shore — he fished; I cried. Oh, not because he was fishing because I was reading a truly moving story. I wanted to read something that would inspire and motivate. That it did as I sat there on the beach sniffling and wiping my eyes behind my sunglasses with a wadded up tissue. And the story?? I think you know it well — you’ve lived it. Oh my, Jen it was so moving. I am five pages from being finished and I’ll do that today. I’ve been telling everyone I know to be sure and pick up a copy. After I finish reading I’ll put it down and then in a month I’ll go back and reread. There is so much depth to the book that I feel I need to go back and do a lot of reflection. Do you think you’ll ever write “The rest of the story” with the story of your blog? Or perhaps that can be another book? Your story truly touched me and I believe that I’m very fortunate to have known you.

Hi Marisa! I have to admit I read your comment days ago and was so overwhelmed and humbled, I didn’t know quite how to respond. First of all, THANK YOU so much for taking the time to read about my family’s journey – to cry with us, hope with us, and rejoice with us. I am truly honored that it touched your caring, compassionate, courageous heart to the point of tears and sharing it with others. I wrote the “Next Chapters” on my blog about my kidney transplant journey, and as critical events unfold in my life – I am sure I will blog about them, but I don’t think I will write another book. My Heroes Ask Wallflowers to Dance was wonderfully cathartic but it was very, very hard to write and I am happy writing about food for now! 🙂 Thank you again for reading about my story and for your kind comments that always brighten my day! You are a ray of sunshine that no doubt are always “asking wallflowers to dance!” xo
